Consistent metric thread designation can eliminate confusion and reduce supplier errors in our increasingly globalized marketplace. Product differences in designation, processes and design practices, particularly in fastener nomenclature, can result in confusion or misapplication of critical products. Different nomenclature used to designate the same products in different parts of the world can result in errors resulting from purchaser-supplier misunderstandings. The IFI has just released a free techguide for nomenclature of metric fasteners. See linked PDF document below.
